MessagePadjo, some of the information came from the account written in 'Rebel Cork's Fighting Story'. Also there was an excellent article entitled 'Death on the Mall, published in the Cork Evening Echo of Monday July 26, 2010.

Can you please mail me where you got the information on the County Club shooting.
One of my ancestors was in the Cork IRA 1st Bat. I seem to recall a Company mentioned along with the battalion. either C or K.

MessageMy grandfather, John Brickley of Lacarour, Buttlerstown, Barryroe served in the 3rd West Cork Flying Column during the Irish war for Independence prior to him immigrating to the US in the mid 1920's. He passed in 1984.

When I was a young boy in Philadelphia, I recall him showing me the medals he was awarded for his service to Ireland. However, in recent years I have occasionally sought reference as to his service on the net and haven't come up with anything. Is there a site with such detailed data?

On another note, I watched with interest the events of the recent visit to Ireland of HRH Elizabeth II. Never having been particularly enamored with the Royals, I nonetheless found myself deeply admiring the Queen as I read the text of her statements and noted the beyond words or measurable value gesture of her wreath laying at the Garden of Remberance in Dublin. Magnificently magnanomous. She should be noted with great respect for her deeply positive words and gestures of warmth and healing. God Bless the Queen!

MessageI'm afraid the only information I have at present is that Patrick Roynane (who had been legally represented by Barry Sullivan, solicitor, Mallow) was executed at Cork Jail at 8 a.m. on April 28th. 1921, having been tried and convicted by the British government of involvement in the Mourneabbey ambush.

MessageMy granny was Helena Ronayne who's brother Patrick was shot (24yrs old)I think by the British. He was with the Burnfoot company according to your site. I am wondering if you have any more information on either my granny and her involvement or my grand uncle. I also recall a mention of a fire where a grand uncle (perhaps) tried to fly a tricolour from a castle (unknown) but I am not sure what members if any of the Ronayne family perished. Would you know?
