| Message | The sixth annual Valle San Giovanni luncheon takes place at noon on Saturday 3 October 2009 at DiPaolo’s Italian Ristorante in Penns Grove, NJ. “Vallaroli” (people from Valle San Giovanni), guests and friends are welcome. Reservations are appreciated but not mandatory. The price remains just $20 at the door for the best Italian meal and nicest people to be found this side of Italia. Buon appetito! Siamo lieti di segnalarvi che la festa annuale “pranzo vallarolo” abbia luogo sabato 3 ottobre 2009 al Ristorante Italiano Di Paolo, a Penns Grove, Nuova Jersey. Tutti gli abruzzesi,vallaroli del cuore, ospiti ed i loro amici sono invitati. Biglietti solo 13 euro. Si mangia bene le pietanze autentiche italiane! The ties between Penns Grove and Valle San Giovanni remain strong more than 100 years after the first Italian emigres came to southern New Jersey in search of a better life. Extremely interesting is the connection between the statue of the Madonna located at the Saint James parish and the annual festival of the Madonna delle Grazie held July each year in Teramo, Abruzzo Italy. |

| Message | Ciao a tutti. Che bello vedere le foto di Fallascoso ove sono nato, in via Macchie, e dove ho lasciato il mio cuore. Da quando avevo 5 anni vivo a Roma. Ma quando posso torno l'estate anche per pochi giorni. Certo il paese era più bello con le strade in pietra anzichè con il brutto asfalto nero di adesso. Le foto immancabilmente mi fanno ricordare i volti delle persone che ora non ci sono più e che riposano nel piccolo cimitero insieme a mio nonno Giacinto Di Pietrantonio e mia nonna Romelia Di Jorio e tanti miei parenti. Mi madre è di Fallascoso mentre mio padre era nato a Gessopalena. Un saluto a tutti. Paolo I live in Rome, My father come from Gessopalena, my mather come from Fallascoso. I spend my holiday every years in Fallascoso. My uncle Massimino Di Jorio from Fallascoso was partisan in the Brigata Maiella, and Cardinale Di Jorio was my uncle. |

Those were the best three months of my life! We have to buy a house nearby! On a bad day I go back into my memory and picture the beauty of the valley looking over the biggest mountains ever, from Piazza Cardinale Di Iorio. Mama Mia what a treasure! I just read an article in "International living' all about Abruzzo, how it is an undescovered Tuscany and how it is a good time to buy real estate there. Yeah duh!! Ho tanti ricordi,uno più bello dell'altro,e il mio desiderio più grande è quello di sposarmi nella chiesetta di Fallascoso!!!...speriamo sia possibile!!! Potrei dire tante cose,ma la cosa più importante è che questo piccolissimo paese è un pozzo di bellezza e storia,per tutti quelli che come me hanno passato l'infanzia li,e che si ricordano di tutte le perosne che ora non ci sono più... |
