MessageBob,

It was a pleasure working with you and your team and getting to know you over the last few years. I greatly appreciated your hospitality when I was in Seattle. I wish you all the best with your decision to "rewire" and hope the Packers remain in contention for many years to come!

MessageBob,
Enjoy your retirement-you've definitely earned it! I echo the sentiments of Larry Berkeley, David Medack, and Bob McNulty. You always "called it like you saw it" with no B.S. and I always knew where I stood-good or bad. Your philosophy that 'we'll pay it if we owe it, and fight it if we don't,' is almost unheard of today, but has saved Costco tens of millions of dollars and sent a clear message to the Plaintiffs' bar.
Thank you for your wisdom and guidance throughout the years. Enjoy yourself!!

MessageTo the Fire Captain;
It was great all these years puting out the many "Fires" you sent my way. It even got so that another claims manager gave me a Toy Firetruck,..for a birthday present. You and your Firestation crew were the best I have ever worked with in this industry from the time I started in the 60's. You will be sorely missed and fonmdly remembered. Thanks again for everything from myself and the entire McNulty &
Saacke firm.

MessageBob, sorry to lose you. Your experience, wisdom and common sense are rare to find and have been a real advantage in defending claims against Costco. I will miss working with you but wish you a long, happy and fulfilling retirement. Hope to see you in the future, and hope that your travels bring you to St. Louis so that we can show you “baseball heaven”.

MessageOk Bob, we all know how you like mushy goodbyes! What can I say, it sure has been a fun ride. As my secretary can tell you, nothing would get me to jump out of my chair faster than her saying, "Bob Carlson"! There was a reason I always returned your calls right away - FEAR!!! Then I got to really know you and you became the one client I WANTED to speak to and was happy to hear from, whether about a tough case, football, life or whatever. You have always brought the best out in me and you and Costco have always - and will always - get the best I have to give. In this age where it seems like everyone's priority is CYA, you were a refreshing breath of fresh air: a no B.S. guy and I always have known that you have had my back no matter what you send me into. Thank you for entrusting the defense of Costco to me and thank you for being a stand up man. The best client any lawyer could ever hope to have. You will be missed but never, ever forgotten. You best not be a stranger and better come out to visit me and my family out here in Jersey. Better still, we are going to catch a Packers game in Green Bay next season. Here's to you buddy. Please try not to drive Connie crazy!

MessageBob, Thank you for so many wonderful memories! It has been my good fortune to work with you and the great people at Costco and Gallagher Bassett. From my vantage point as outside counsel, you made my job enjoyable, educational and pleasurable. I wish the best in the coming years and, hopefully, you will be spending more time in the beautiful Aloha State. Mahalo nui loa and hou'oli la ho'omaha loa (Happy Retirement!) Richard

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with you these many years. Your consistent approach and vision has paid, and will continue to pay, dividends for Costco. More importantly, it makes life a little better when you are working with a respected friend. Good luck in your retirement - the duration of which will I'm sure be directly related to Connie's patience ...
