MessageDear Prof. Gussow - Greetings from across the river in Tarrytown! Inspired by your wonderful book, This Organic Life, we Girl Scout troop leaders at Transfiguration School took our Daisy and Brownie scouts for a field trip to Hilltop Hanover Farm, Westchester County's organic farm in Yorktown, where the girls received a robust presentation on the importance of eating locally, seasonally, and naturally. It had a huge impact on their little lives. We're building a complete module around this for next year's troops. Thank you for inspiring us! We have high hopes that it's helped shape young minds.

Sincerely,

Laura

MessageHi Joan,
Just finished This Organic Life. Thank you for such a wonderful book!
I have really learned a ton and share with both friends and fellow grocery shoppers to really think about the 19 cent banana they want to buy.
thanks again for being inspiring and showing us that we can all enjoy life and eat well with out leaving our yards!

MessageDear Joan, been meaning to write and tell you how much I enjoyed Growing, Older, which I bought when it first came out but only finished recently. It was very meaningful to me for many reasons, not least of which is your leadership in the eating locally growing awareness. I am an environmental writer in northern NJ and get up to Piermont a few times a year. Sure you'll be in your garden, but like to think I'd just run into you by happenstance. In the meantime, hope your summer is going well, another summer of extreme weather but I'll take the sun over the torrential rain anytime. Best wishes for your good health and continued success in all you do.

MessageDear Joan,
Thank you for your beautiful book, Growing, Older. I am one of the founding members of a citizen's climate action group, 350 Sacramento (in Sacramento, CA). We work locally to educate about the global climate crisis. Currently, we're in a partnership with the City of Sacramento to promote Sacramento's participation in the Cool California Community Challenge. Our focuses in the challenge are local and seasonal eating, transportation and home energy. I would love to get some ideas from you on how to further inform the public about the need to eat seasonally and locally. Would love to hear your thoughts.
