I can understand being scared of losing family even friends but those who truley love you for who you are will always be beside you no matter what choice you make in your life. Let me give you an example, my father finally expressed his hatred of gay people that he pushes down and it caused conflict on a family get together but I finally have the strength to stand my ground and someday you will too. It takes time but if you can't be true about who you are to your family/friends then your life will be miserable and no one wants that for you if they love you. I think you should talk to Jeffery about what it is like for him being an out gay man from a conservative extended family. You may not have been close growing up but it is not too late. I do not know if she was gay or straight and it didn't matter to me, I loved her for her. She knew my love was unconditional as any mother's love. I would have given my life for her. Please mothers and fathers don't live with regrets, never let your ideas of an ideal child rob you of them, life is too short to miss a minute of joy with the ones you love.
