|Message||My family is on vacation this week in San Destin, FL - and there were lots of moon jellyfish the past 2 days, and I was telling my family about my run-in with a Portuguese Man of War when I was 14 years old (37 years ago...) while living in Hawaii (Kaneohe, Oahu). I remember the intense pain and stinging that lasted for hours. I went to the ER on a golf cart as the beach was near a golf course. |
I was stung because I remember thinking my sister's bathing suit was losing a string, and reached out and actually pulled on what I thought was a string, but was one of the poisonous tentacles. I had not thought of that memory in years until I saw your website.
But without even looking at the pictures I gave an exact description of the man-of-war. And I remember the pain to this day -
I actually still have scars on the fingers of my right hand where the tentacles wrapped around them.
Thanks for a good website.
