| Message | I have a silver bird claw sugar tong with initials MCRR on the side. I googled those letters and found your web site. I was wondering if these were used 100 years ago on your train? Just curious if you have any info. I'm putting values on things I've inherited from my father and trying to figure out what everything is. Thank You!
++++++++++++ For those interested in the above question... The present day MCRR started in the late 1950's as a project of the Midwest Old Threshers group. This "MCRR" is an extremely short-line railroad, often referred to as a tourist railroad or museum railroad. While we'd like to lay claim to the sugar tong, I did some investigations and found information about the "Michigan Central Railroad" which was incorporated in 1846 and later became part of the Penn Central Railroad. Most likely, your sugar tong was part of this company.
