MessageJustin Martyr was the first recorded individual to baptize into something other than the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: "For, in the name of God, the Father and Lord of the universe, and of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, they then receive the washing with water...And this washing is called illumination, because they who learn these things are illuminated in their understandings" (First Apology 61).

Yet the Apostle Peter taught, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins"... (Acts 2:38) And the Bible shows: "Then those that gladly received his word were baptized" (Acts 2:42). Christian baptism includes repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus. Every person baptized in the Bible did so in Jesus' name.

The trinity is not a scripturally sound truth either in Godhead or baptism. Many today simply follow a Catholic ordained tradition instead of the word of God. The difference is really between spiritual life or eternal punishment.

MessageThe Acts message of repentance and baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is the truth. It has never died out as someone throughout the ages has been faithful witness of Christ. If we do not accept the only commanded and saving name of the Lord Jesus in all things, we might as well serve pagan gods. The trinity is simply a pagan tradition brought to all cultures from Babylon, and into Christianity under the Catholics. What is more important, tradition or truth? The word of God teaches only baptism in the name of Jesus. Whereas the trinity is a tradition that was adopted by the Catholic over a period of three hundred years. Many who call themselves Christians will say in that day, "Lord, Lord Jesus did we not cast out devils, miracles and many wonderful works in thy name?" Yet He will say to them to depart from Him, as they were workers of iniquity or still sinners. Why? Because here though they did so much in His name they failed to apply it where it counted the most, in their baptism. Remember that faith apart from deeds is dead. And no man can really believe and not be baptized in the lovely name of Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. This is a true record of a baptism in Rome 100 AD. Publius Decius was baptized by a Deacon after professing belief in Jesus as his saviour, using these exact words..."I baptize you in the Name of the Lord Jesus, as the cold water closed over him." Why not you? You have everything to gain and only sin and Satan to lose! Peace.
