MessageHistory is recorded here. I studied in Kenosha with Ron Zeith, mostly, and earned my first belt at the table of Rev Wm. Foster. It was also very exciting to meet Phil Koeppel. These were the most exciting moments of my life! but something was wrong in Kenosha. The town was slipping into rust. I had respect, even awe of these leaders, but I knew something they did not know- even though I could not put it into words. The fight was elsewhere. Our homes in America were corrupted by complacency, political correctness, and the denial of the need for immediate action. I look now and ask myself, What was this karate training for? How sensible is it when the leaders who were in charge had resigned? I am sorry and heart-broken. The Mid-west: our industry, government, family and church, have crumbled around us. That is all.

MessageI very much enjoyed your site, especially viewing pictures of Grandmaster Trias and other old friends. He was my teacher and my example in many areas. I love and miss him. Your site shows a lot of excellent research. Feel free to contact me, if I can help you in your search for knowledge of karate history.

MessageThank you for posting the wonderful photos of GrandMaster Trias in the early 1960s. I believe I see myself and my brother in the foreground in one of them (middle right, outside the McDowell Rd. Dojo). Would you have that photo in digital format? I would be deeply grateful to have a copy of it.

MessageI studied for a time under the late Frank Rimmer in Brevard. He was my uncle by marriage. I left when he retired to teach privately and left the dojo with Sensei Lynn Goldsmith, because I had spent much time after class with Sensei Lynn and my wife was suspicious of it. Uncle Frank used to invite Sensei Lewis to our dojo to teach us aikido, and she always picked on me because I was the biggest adult in the class. I was always amazed at her ability to put me on the ground with a thumblock, which demonstrated to the younger and smaller students what aikido and "working the circles" could accomplish. I miss her as much as Uncle Frank. Is she still teaching?
