Message | Good day to you ! , I was just looking at your site , and I stumbled upon the Shorei-ryu family tree by Dave and Leslie Thomas , lol ... I hold a 7th degree Black Belt under Shihan Charles Bridgewater , I promoted Dave and Leslie from brown belt to Ni dan , after some years that they spent with Mr. Bridgewater , but as far as them putting their names under Shihan Bridgewater's .... I'm not to sure he would like that ..lol you might want to check first with Mr. Bridgewater before you posted this .... I don't believe they have any Yudansha certs. with his name on it ... and quit frankly I a little upset they did not mention who really promoted them if you know what I mean .... When I promoted them Mr. Bridgewater shook his head and said..you did what ??? they are good people don't get me wrong , I think they just got a little carried away wanting to be recognized my Shihan Bridgewater , they do have lineage , but not directly ,,, and if you change it and I hope you do ... please leave me out of it , these were just a couple of student years ago , I think now that maybe I should not have promoted them. I hope I shed some real light on this subject , and no disrespect , and if I ever see them , I will straighten them out ! .... Yours in Budo ! ...Joseph Slonski 10th dan |

Message | History is recorded here. I studied in Kenosha with Ron Zeith, mostly, and earned my first belt at the table of Rev Wm. Foster. It was also very exciting to meet Phil Koeppel. These were the most exciting moments of my life! but something was wrong in Kenosha. The town was slipping into rust. I had respect, even awe of these leaders, but I knew something they did not know- even though I could not put it into words. The fight was elsewhere. Our homes in America were corrupted by complacency, political correctness, and the denial of the need for immediate action. I look now and ask myself, What was this karate training for? How sensible is it when the leaders who were in charge had resigned? I am sorry and heart-broken. The Mid-west: our industry, government, family and church, have crumbled around us. That is all. |
