| Message | Hats (and masks) off to all who had a hand in making this one great night! We arrived a little late which is why I think we totally missed the fire spinners. Hell, it could have been the tequila ;-)
The location was easy to find and just hidden off the beaten path to make it feel really secure and homey. Everyone did a fabulous job welcoming the folks, answering questions, etc.
I did spend a great portion of my time outside (smoking section) and believe me, the parking lot party also ROCKED! We had the advantage of seeing all the costumes as they arrived and could hear eachother in conversations. Met alot of wonderful people in a fabulous, relaxed, fun setting!
Hope this starts an annual trend! |

| What would you change for next year? | maybe have a DJ part of the night? |
| Message | You guys did a great job! One suggestion, though: While I have nothing against rock and metal music, I think a DJ playing more dance type music for part of the night or more drumming would get people up, moving and a bit more engaged. Very few people got up for the bands as compared to the number who got up to dance once the spinners cleared the floor during the drumming. So maybe a better mix of styles would do better? I know of a DJ who spun for us at Apollocon who has a great mix of Pagan-ish (Dead Can Dance type), techno, 80s, punk and industrial music as well as stuff that appeals to the con geek crowd (mixes featuring things like the Red Dwarf theme, Star Wars music, etc). If you'd like his info, let me know and I'll get it from the convention folks. You could have DJ part of the night and bands part of the night.
Other than that, I've got no complaints whatsoever. |
