BreedBoston Terrier
StateMissouri
Type of Cancerbreast cancer
MessageLacie is my 9 year old boston terrier who I rescued from a business man who said he no longer wanted her. From the first day, she has been my best friend. I've had her since she was 5 years old & noticed an odd looking lump on her lower teet. I got her spayed 3 months after I got her. Fast forward 4 years to May of 2014...I noticed that the lump was migrating out of her teet & ruptured. I had had 2 vets previously tell me that it was just a cyst & nothing to be worried about. A third vet told me it was cancer. X rays revealed that she also had some spots on her lungs but everything appeared to be slow growing. She underwent surgery to have the teet removed & she healed nicely...until her staples came out. She started producing more lumps & those started opening up like craters all over her lower belly. I took her back to the vet & she gave me more antibiotics so she could undergo another surgery to remove more lumps under another teet. Lacie stopped eating because she knew that I was putting her meds in her food. So the vet injected her with an antibiotic that would keep working for 2 weeks. If after that time no improvement, then I would have to start making end of life decisions. The meds haven't worked yet & the 2 weeks was up today (09/01/14)Lacie is not just my best friend, she is my soul mate...she helped me through my heart diagnosis, the birth of my premature daughter who wasn't suppose to live but did, & a very difficult divorce. Please pray that my Lacie makes it!

Type of CancerSarcoma that has spread to Lymph nodes
MessageI adopted Buck last August. He's now 8. Buck's Sarcoma was diagnosed last Tuesday. All of his lymph nodes are very swollen so it's in his lymphatic system. My Vet thinks it has also spread to his lungs because of his constant panting & labored breathing. This came as such a shock because our Vet aspirated the same lump a year ago & it was fine. She told me Sarcoma is a really nasty cancer & gave Buck 6 months or less. I am devastated & cry when Buck can't see me. I've had 4 other dogs & Buck is the sweetest, happiest & clumsy boy I've ever known. When we're out on our walks his tail is wagging non stop. I am now making Buck's food because I heard that it might help. This is so unfair; we've only just had a year together & it took Buck 3 months to know how to act when getting so much attention & love. His first family dumped at the shelter & luckily Northeast Ohio Lab Rescue pulled him & saved his life. I know in my heart that this has been the best year of Buck's life because now he's "my shadow" & waits patiently at the front door for me to come home. I don't have children; Buck is my baby & this all just seems unreal. Please pray that Buck defies the odds & if he doesn't that I have the wisdom & courage to send him to the Bridge & not let him suffer. I'm so glad found this page. Thank you so much.
