The tumor is strangling him and he is struggling to breathe comfortably and is coughing so much. Please pray that it is operable. He is only 9 and we don't want to let go yet. | Message | Zeus was diagnosed with bone cancer August 15th. He had been favoring his back right leg for a short time and I thought it might be arthritis. I took him to the Vet and she took X-rays and ran blood work. When I came back to pick him up she broke the news to us. I felt like someone stuck a dagger through my heart. Zeus will be 7 years old in November. He is not the family pet, he is so much more than that. He is loyal, loving, courageous, silly, our rock when we are sad..... he is amazing!! From the day I brought him home he has loved us so much with everything he has inside him. This is truly the hardest thing I've ever had to face. I hate seeing my friend in pain.... it breaks my heart... We discussed options with the Vet and we ruled out amputation due to the fact that he has hip dysplacia and the pain would be too much for him. She told us the cancer was advanced but not yet to his lungs. She said at this point quality of life was the most important thing. We have been giving him Rymadil and also Dandilion root with his food. He has been doing well so far, just a couple restless nights. I've been doing his favorite things each day to keep his spirits up..... car rides, short walks outside, singing together, playing with his monkey, and especially hide and seek...... :) We have been so blessed to have Zeus in our lives. He has had an amazing impact on my life especially... his unconditional love is something truly amazing. Zeus will forever be in our hearts!! |

I am beside my self with grief and am just trying to keep her going long enough so we can move back to Arizona, so she can see her grandma and be buried with the other animals that we have had go over the rainbow bridge. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and she was 8 in May. She is my baby and I am not ready for her to go. |
