| Message | I have just recently been diagnosed with this disorder, at the age of 51! Now I know why I've been having so many problems w/ repeated injuries to my knees, chronic back pain, hip injuries, foot pain, etc! I so regret my antics as a youngster showing off my "double jointed" knees. As one who has always been very active, this diagnosis is especially disturbing. Being a competitive person, I've learned to live with an appreciable amount of discomfort, just so I can do my workouts. Am I condemned to live out the rest of my days sedentary and unable to exercise for fear of exasperating this condition? |

| Message | i have hms and I am in pain everyday...causes depression,anxiety. I've been to every doctor plus i go to a phycologist. I cant work,does anyone have any suggestions on how to decrease pain? |

I came across this site while looking for info on hip labral tears and what do you know...I'm not insane, I have all the signs of hypermobility! 12 years ago my PT said I was hyperflexible in all joints, told my ortho doc and he looked at me like I was crazy. Oh..so happy I found you guys! For those of you considering hip labral tear surgery ask about arthroscopy, femoral acetabular impingement(FAI),and hip thermal capsulorraphy to correct laxity of the hip capsule. FAI and hip laxity are newly found problems associated with labral tears. The problem is there is only a hand full of orthos that know how to fix the underlying reasons. Maybe you'll have better luck in UK. |

| Message | Hi. I have recently discovered that i have HMS. I regularly dislocate fingers, toes, hips and last year my shoulder was operated on because it would no longer stay in its socket. My rib cage dosn't sit in the right place and every other joint in my body is becoming more painful and flexibly by the day indicating it wont be long until my ankles, wrists and other joinst arnt far behind my already dislocating joints. I dont know anyone else who has HMS and i am having a hard time at the moment as it has just becaome an insane problem in the past 2 yrs and no one i know gets wat its like to stand up and have their hip dislocate or sit in class and have their shoulder pop out. Just wondering who else is out there like me so i know im not alone. |

| Message | hello iam priyanka rawat from india. i have been recently diagnosed marfanoid habitus with joint hypermobility. i can understand how difficult it is to live with it. i would like to let you know that iam also suffering from von willebrand's disease type 2 which is a genetic bleeding disease resulting in prolonged and profused bleeding episodes , raynaud disease , autophony ,ibs ,coccydynia ,post streptococcal reactive arthritis ,anismus ,migraine ,polyarthralgia ,grade 2 haemorroids. life is not easy for me but those who are suffering from hypermobility syndrome should be thankful to god almighty that they are only suffering from a particular condition . may god almighty keep all the hypermobile people healthy and fine. |

| Message | Hi all, think at the tender age of 43 I may have finally found my diagnosis! Could this be why, I've had bunions operated on when only 22 despite always wearing flat "comfortable" shoes?, have trouble with my hips and knees. Bruise really easily. Had scans and dye tests revealing nothing etc etc. would be a relief knowing I haven't been imaging the pain all these years! Hurrah for memory foam matresses by the way. Thanks for reading louise |
