| Message | I trained with two "trainers" at Werner. They both constantly violated standard rules regarding speed limits, cornering speeds, following distances, maintenance, lane changes, etc. They literally did more things wrong than they did correctly. My second trainer hadn't even been driving for a year when he became a trainer and he already had a preventable incident on his record in that short time. The "training" was so disgraceful that there is no way that Werner has a legitimate process for picking its trainers. I am not trying to be offensive here, but truck driving is one of the easiest jobs out there and its standards are very easy to meet. If drivers can't meet those standards, and companies like Werner repeatedly demonstrate they have no interest in enforcing those standards, then those drivers should be out of work and those companies should be out of business. It is absolutely disgraceful that the trucking industry is allowed to conduct itself in this negligent manner that causes the deaths of 100s each year. Sure, there's always going to be accidents, and plenty of those accidents are caused by non-truckers. This does not, however, excuse the 100s of lives lost each year due to the negligence of irresponsible trucking companies. The states and USDOT need to tighten the noose on these clowns until they either get it right or get shut down. |
