MessageDearest Jack and Karen,
You two are amazing people. I admire your strength and grit in dealing with this horrible disease. Bless your hearts, as I know that dealing with this cancer is very painful in many ways. Just remember, "My God shall supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19.
Thank you, Jack, for your encouraging words in the card you sent me. You are such a wonderful man of God. Dan will be home from Iraq in three weeks for a two week visit. Ooh Rah! We are so excited, as we have not seen Dan in over eight months. When he goes back to Iraq, it will be for a shorter time. He should be home for Christmas. Praise God!
May God bring complete healing to you, Jack, and comfort to you, Karen. Hang in there. God is doing a work that we may not be able to understand at the moment. I'm praying for you.
Lots of love and hugs from the Elzie's

MessageHey Big Bro and Sis,

"Batten down the hatches." The earliest known citation is from John Badcock, in Domestic Amusements, 1823 (referring to a sea voyage):

"The severity of the climate having compelled them to batten down and caulk their abiding place."

As a Marine Officer who spent some time on the sea, no stranger to this term, are ye. Literally, as Hanna swells her foul winds upon ye, and as a matter of battling on against the foul tumor... I say to ye: "Batten down the hatches."

Our "battening" for you will be much prayer and all the love, yea, even more, than we...all of thine family and friends...possess.

Love,
Robert and Trudy
