MessageI have been a fan since my very first exposure of SAHB,at a gig they played at the Oxford Polytechnic in 1974,! From that moment, I went to as many gigs as I could go to and just couldn't get enough! My sister was a huge fan also at that time, and still is today, like me.
Long Live Vambo!

MessageFROM MY BLOG ON THE GLASGOW GUIDE:- BANDS OF THE SIXTIES SITE. smilie smilie

B4 perfecting my drumming skills I used to go to the Candlelight Club to see THE ALEX HARVEY BIG SOUL BAND.
This left a lasting impression on me,George Mc Gowan was the drummer then.
Through a drunken haze at the age of 17 I found myself pulling hard on a bannister to reach a venue above the BAYHORSE (on the corner of west nile street) which I was enlightened 2 days later was the R&B ALLNIGHTER CLUB.
The artistes were of course ALEX HARVEY AND CO.
This story could go on and on,but I ended up playing in the band at THE LENNOXBANK SUNDAY CLUB(Balloch). TEENSVILE(Dumbarton),where the destemper on the walls and ceiling fell on everyone when we started with THE BOSTON TEA PARTY!
Ended up in THE BIG SIX from my home town of Dumbarton.
We played 2 years in Glasgow University Union augmenting THE BILL LAMBERT DANCE BAND with R&B covers.
This gave us lots of contacts to the glasgow upper crust and we went on to be a niche band popular from North Uist to Yorkshire.
Reply to this post if you want a few laughs of our exploits.

MessageI live in Cleveland, OH area -USA. SAHB are legends in this area- my favorites! I remember listening to the 1974 Cleveland Agora Concert on WMMS radio. They played more songs that are on the CD release including "Gang Bang" and "Dance to the Music" and maybe "River of Love" if I recall the broadcast- WE NEED TO GET THE COMPLETE CONCERT RELEASED. The original tapes were given back to Alex Harvey Jr. by WMMS-CLEVELAND in the early 80's after the re-broadcast tribute. Please e-mail or substantiate that the complete set list
