MessageHi Alice

I have just seen an e-mail from Jessica in the channel swimmer group. I believe you will both be on the beach on Sunday? If so - see you there! I am tapering down now after a 7 hour Saturday, and a 6 hour Sunday. My swim is in 2 weeks, so will only be doing about 3-4 hours each day this weekend(depends on Freda!).

Best wishes to you both.

Hoffy.

Thank's for the message of support and well done to your wife! It is a formidable challenge getting across the channel, and I admire anyone who has done it! I am now tapering down for my swim in just 2 weeks time.

Best wishes.

Hoffy.

MessageHi Hoffy,

I saw your comment on my friend Jessica's blog and came to your website. I will crew for Jessica and be on her boat as she crosses in July. Hopefully we will see you on the beach in Dover while we are there! Cheers to you for doing this for charity and good luck with your last bit of training!

Alice

MessageGood luck with the crossing. My wife (Emma) swam it in 2004 and I am fully aware of the commitment that it takes from all concerned..... but mainly from you on the day !!

MessageDear Paul & Rebecca,

Look forward to meeting you this Sunday and swimming for you charities. Your training for your Channel attempt appears to be on course, after your health problems.

I spent three good years at Stowmarket in the middle 70s, where I managed the Stowmarket Sports Centre. I believe Mick Jones a former Royal Marine, like me was Mayor of Bury St Edmunds a few years ago. Hope your good lady, Rebecca had an interesting year in office, Bury is a unique East Anglian town.

See you on Sunday, All the best,

Tom Gunning.

MessageDear William

Thank you so much for the comments. The key to the fund raising I think is to just keep asking people over and over again until they say yes or no. One of my corporate sponsors took over 7 months to get a "yes" out of, then I made him feel bad, I said to his face "Well - yes or no". He could't say no and gave me £100 there and then! LOL!

The key to the swim is get in that cold water. Swimming in 7/8 degree Centigarde water over the winter and experiencing mild hypothermia has really aclimatised me to the water. I am looking forward to my 6 hour qualifying swim now, which will be in the next few weeks.

Good luck with your attempt, and very best wishes.

Hoffy.

MessageHoffy:

As a master's swimmer, (I'm 43 years olad and swimming since I was 10), one of my dreams is to swim the English Channel in order to raise funds for special children. I have a four years old daughter who has cerebral palsy, and I think what you are doing is highly commendable.

Thank you for providing useful info on how to raise funds by your great endeavor, as I look forward to emulate you in the future, as well as donating into your worthy cause.

Feel free to contact me via e-mail ([email protected]).

Sincerely,

William

MessageHi Mark. Thanks for commenting. Good luck with your training and swim next year. Ed was great. I have only had one session with him so far, but it was well worth while. He has invited me to swim in a 92 Metre outside pool in Cambridge which I didn't realise even existed. Will hopefully give it a try soon.

Thanks for agreeing to sponsor me also.

Best wishes and good luck.

Hoffy.
