Messagei reminisce of the old terror.. the team to beat for this man's money going into the 2003-04 season....

cam had just finished in 2nd place, 39 points back of rob. look at these all-stars that had him poised to overtake rob the following year:

-markus naslund 104 points
-js giguere 98 points acquired in the off season
-roman cechmanek 94 points
-pavol demitra 93 points
-mario 91 points
-mike modano 85 points
-paul kariya 81 points
-alex mogilny 79 points (acquired mid 02-03)
-sergei zubov 55 points
-chris pronger - missed nearly all 02-03

instead cam finished 2nd last in 03-04, 200 points back as naslund, demitra, mario, modano, kariya, mogilny, giguere and cechmanek all crapped the bed, putting up a combined 370 points compared to 725 the season before.

i miss the old terror. congrats i guess. smilie

MessageTwo questions
1. Are we going by the FHL standings? Or the final full stats (i.e. including farms) which we use for the main draft?
2. Are we doing the bonus points thing again with picking teams?

To keep things simple and fast, I would vote standings for #1, and no for #2

MessageCongrats to the Terror for their win this season! Looks like a dynasty in the making.

Let's go ahead with the play-off pool.

Each team picks a team of 6 players - comprised of players from their franchise.
3 forwards, 1 d, 1 wc (either forward or d) and 1 goalie.

Each team is also allowed to pick 1 undrafted player, starting with last place to first place given the priority.

MessageRob, it took you 10 days to come up with that response? If you have that thin of skin as a GM in the pressure cooker that is the FHL, then the Blazers are in for a longer rebuild than I originally thought. Lets sit down and chat about the possibilities with each of our teams instead of flipping out at the opening thought thrown on the table. I think you have been watching Torts too long.

MessageGoon - clarification - you brought it into the media - it was your choice to post (what you felt was lack of movement) on the banter board.

Yes, negotiations need to start somewhere, (I'm giving you a little GM tip here) however that starting point should be at a reasonable place, so as not to insult the other party. When one GM attempts to fleece the other, it usually isn't taken so well and I would argue actually has an adverse affect on future negotiations.

MessageRob, its called a negotiation. There is a starting point and an end point, and usually it takes some time to meet somewhere in the middle. If one side doesn't make the effort they will never know what reward could be for them at the eventual end point. Anyways, I prefer not to negotiate in the media and leave trade talks to the war room.
