MessageDear Joanne,

Thank you very much for your friendly greetings. We love to hear from members old and new! We are grateful to you for getting the Club off the ground here and are still very much alive and kicking. We have seen times with many members and times with declining numbers and are now in a transition phase again. We'll get you back on the mailing list again. smilie

MessageHello
What a great website! I am the founder of the Club and I am delighted to see it is still active, and to find this great informative and interactive website. How things have changed!
I moved to St John's from Beaconsfield Quebec, near Montreal, in spring 1994. I had experienced both the Beaconsfield Newcomer Club as well as the Beaconsfield Newcomer Alumnae Club, and served on the executive of both, as well as Newcomers Council. I met Lynda Diamond who was also new to St John's and together we planned the first meeting of the St John's Newcomer Club in March 1996. 8 women attended that night, a humble beginning. We formed an executive with 5 people and I have copies of the first newsletters that we cut and paste in the old fashioned way, starting with the April 1996 edition. I signed off in June 1997... when I moved to London Ontario. I have continued to be active in both the London Newcomers Club and now the London Newcomers Alumnae Club, where I am completing my term as Past-President. My commitment to Newcomers Clubs is evident! These have served me well, and I continue to enjoy the benefits after many years. I was made an honourary member of the St John's NC though I can't remember exactly what year, and I did receive the newsletters for many years. I would love to be on the mailing list again, as I am excited to follow the evolution of this Club. Congratulations and best wishes to the Executive and members. I wish you continued success. Yours in friendship.

MessageHello St. John's Newcomers,

I was a member from 2000-2005/6. I was the newsletter editor for a while. Just thought I would stop by and say 'hello'.

Geoff and I are now living in Colorado, about 40min from downtown Denver. We have two children, Emma (5yrs) and Tom (3yrs). Probably be here another year and then most likely head to Australia for a while. We moved to Colorado in July 2006.

Colorado has an average of 328 days of sunshine a year...I know! Sorry to rub that in! Must admit that I don't miss all the snow shoveling and foggy days, but I really did enjoy and appreciate my time as a member of the Newfoundland Newcomers Club....sincere best wishes to all of those that may remember me?

...And may all present members enjoy the opportunity to meet up with a great group of women. Have fun in the snow...and sunshine!

MessageHi Lesley,

Yes we still are on the go, but just a smaller group, therefore we don't have as many activities going on and the website has suffered.

Coffee mornings still take place. You can contact the president at the email address given in the blog header or call her phone number. If for some reason you cannot contact her, leave a private message here with some contact info, so we can forward you the newsletter.

When are you moving here?
