MessageDoug, everytime i find myself telling stories i tell the one about Lori's wedding. I was locked in the basement of some raggidy old cabin with one channel that happened to be the tv guide and no food. My aunts, yes even YOU JOANNE, locked the doors so that i couldn't get out, that is until you came busting threw the downstair doors wondering what i was doing... I hadn't been happier to see you in my entire life. I explained how i was locked down there and he proclaimed that we had to go out, be it at the time i was about 13. He said he knew a pool hall around there even though we were in the mountains of North Carolina and he clearly had no idea where it was or where we were even going. We got into the jimmy and just drove till finally out of the grace of god found a "pool hall" I was in shock that he was so persuasive with the bartender to let a young punk like me into the bar at the early hours of the morning but sure enough doug waved for me to come in. We shot pool and just talked, mostly about girls or some brawls he had been in, but we talked. No one really gets why i tell this story all the time but at the time it meant alot to me that a cousin i barely knew and was older than me took the time to take me out and show me a good time. I miss you alot man and see you in peyton (sorry if i spelled that wrong taylor) everyday. And don't worry if anyone touches your sisters i will remember your protectiveness when i am "talking" to them.

MessageSeems like yesterday. It was the coldest day in years. All the schools were closed. Burton Elementary was at Science Camp. Dougie and Stevie were on the porch. It was 70 below.
Our summer weekends consisted of hours at Burton's baseball field, watching them play, showering and then dinners at Como's. Miss those days. Miss you Doug.
Much love,
Joanie

MessageI was looking through some old pictures today and found a great one of you from the Burton 5th grade winter camp trip. You know, the one that was -79 degrees outside and too cold to use the bathrooms in the middle of the night so we took turns going off the porch. We thought this was the best idea. I think we even wrote different peoples names in the snow from our cabin. Good thing we didn't write our own when the following morning we're woken up by the crash of our teacher slipping on a patch of yellow ice. If we were hanging out in the summer, knocking baseballs out of the park in little league, playing pool, hockey in the Blake's backyard or catching up after one of our high school games against each other, we always had fun man. Happy Birthday, Doug!

Messagetoday I cried. All little harder than I usually do when you cross my mind. I knew today was going to be hard a week ago but it reminded me bright and early when my alram went off and "P-Diddy's" version of "I'll Be missing you came on." but one line of that song was able to bring a smile through my tears and that was " I know your in Heaven smiling down, watching us...." And it made me remember your smile! And I know your there in heaven smiling, watching over all of us. It makes me happy to know one day I will see you again. Not a day has gone by in two years since I got that phone call you haven't been on my mind, in my heart, or in my prayers. I love you and miss you Doug.

MessageLast night as the seconds ran down on the clock, 3...2...1....0....THE WINGS WON THE STANLEY CUP. I thought of Doug. I don't think there was one person out in Detroit, Royal Oak or any place in this world who would of been more excited about the WINGS winning that cup then he. His image stuck in my mind all night. And when they brought out that gorgeous shinning cup the image of the picture he held so dear to him appeared in my mind, the picture of him with the cup. Last night as I drove through the streets of royal oak, cheering and honking my horn it wasn't all for the wings, it was for Doug and the joy that moment would of brought him. That one was for you Doug!!!! smilie
