MessageHi there. I just read the letters your son sent home. My son got to Great Lakes, IL for Navy boot camp August 21, 2007. Today is Sept. 4th. He called me when he arrived, but I have not heard from him since then. Is this normal? I'm so worried about him. I also concerned about him making it through the PT part of boot camp. Any thing you can tell me to allay my fears will be greatly appreciated. I did receive an infomation letter from the Navy and my son wrote me about 3 lines stating everything was going very well thus far, but of course that was only day 2 or 3. I've not heard a word since then. Since he has not called does this mean he is in trouble and not allowed to call home? I'm driving myself nuts over this. Should I relax? Please help me.

MessageThank you for posting the link to this site on the Navy Message board - it's been great to hear what's going on at boot camp, through a Recruit's personal experiences! I appreciate you sharing your son's letters with those of us who are brand new to the "Navy Parent" thing! It's been helpful, as my son doesn't dish too many details in his letters!

Congratulations to your daughter & son on their tremendous accomplishments!!! And congrats to you, too, Mom & Dad - on a job well done, you must be so proud!

My son's PIR is coming up on the 24th of this month - I'm so proud I could burst!!! It takes a special kind of person to devote their life (or at least a good few years of it!) to ANY branch of the military - especially during times like these. I look with pride upon your TWO U.S. Sailors, and can't wait to hear from my son, too, once he's passed Battle Stations & traded his "Recruit" cap for a "NAVY" one!!!

***** GO NAVY!!! God bless the USA!!! *****

MessageI hope so much that Chanute and other areas will recover before too long. A question on this holiday with the hundreds Chanute's veterans interred...Are the cemetaries in and near Chanute flooded?
