Message | Have you ever searched for a lost object and finally found it in the exact place where you were sure it would not be? What other things do you routinely overlook because you're certain they're not there? How many creative ideas never come to you because you're already certain of what does and does not work. How many prospective customers do you fail to approach, because you're certain they would not be interested? Does your certainty limit you? Is your certainty really certainty, or is it just an unwillingness to explore other options? There are times when we must think and act with certainty, and yet much of what we think of as certainly is just plain stubbornness. Your certainty is largely a result of your experience. Keep in mind that a whole world of possibilities exists beyond that experience. Yes, it is easier to reject new ideas without considering or exploring them. Yet if you already know it all, how is it possible to learn? It's great to be certain and confident. Just don't let your certainty blind you to the reality of what's possible. |

Message | Fighting frustration with frustration, or fighting anger with anger, will only make matters worse. When events and circumstances have you frustrated, discouraged and too focused on what's wrong with life, it's time to change course. Turn yourself around. Rather than escalating the negative, do something positive. Give of yourself, play a game with your children, find someone to whom you can say "thank you." There are many beautiful and valuable aspects to your life -- the people you love, experiences you've had, your spiritual faith, things you treasure and enjoy, places you've been, and everything that brings a sense of pure joy to you. Refuse to let the negative influences control you. Draw strength from the beauty and wonder that is your life. Take the high road, and transcend the negative. When you're heading down the road of negativity, turn yourself around. |
