MessageUP tracks ran next to my grandparents farm near Ft. Lupton, CO. Although your map does not show Big Boy's running on that line, and memory has a way of getting hazy, I think I remember seeing these engines on that track when I was a little boy in the 40's and 50's.

MessageGlad to see a site promoting the "Big Boys" !! I retired in July and in August was fortunate to travel to the National RR Museum in Green Bay to see #4017. I've been a steam locomotive fan since I was a little fellow and got to see the CN and CP steamers in action !!
The museum in Green Bay not only has 4017 but it is displayed in a very nice enclosed environment. #4017's cab can be entered and one can closely examine her.
The museum also has #5017, an ex A,T and SF Baldwin 2-10-4,Class 5011 "Texas". She is unrestored as yet but is arguably one of the largest unarticulated locomotives -she's beautiful too !

MessageI am a big fan of trains and locomotives in particular. The Union Pacific Big Boys hold special intrest for me.I would love to see one in operation today, even if it was only for a short run. Does anyoneknow if any of them are being restored to running condition?
