MessageHi Ruby
Ever time I feel home sick over England I go to your page it makes me miss Bury so bad. Yes I do live in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico and it is very nice except I must deal with all these southern people. I have found all my life not to fit in moving from Rhode Island to Okalahoma, Texas, Illinois, and than to England with the Air Force. I did love Bury and England it seems you can be a stranger but be in the middle of a pub or the market. I know this might sound very American but I had made a lot of friends there and one of the spots to hang out was the Queen Head on Abby Gate street. If you are over in that area could you please snap a picture of the out side? It would be nice. I do look at all your picture and they bring me much joy and memories of old.

Home sick

MessageI am an American who was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 1976-1978. I lived in Bury St. Edmunds on Outwestgate Street. I spent most of my time at The Elephant and Castle Pub and am trying to locate anyone who remembers me.

MessageHey Ruby - fantastic blog! found in my husbands favorites (even though he insists he doesn't miss the UK one little bit) Was really wonderful to browse the green lush pictures of Bury St Edmunds (my home for 30 years until 2006) whilst sitting in my air conditioned villa surrounded by sand. smilie

MessageHi or G'day (although not that aussie), just wanted to let you know that I love visiting your blog, I'm often homesick and just seeing the town come to life for me is awesome! I hope to be back living there one day, but alas for moment, life and kids here in Sydney, (not that I'm complaining), (well maybe just a little). Keep on blogging, you're doing a fantastic job! Particularly like the tidbits of conversation from random people on the street, makes me chuckle.

email again soon, now I've made contact

MessageHi there. We were stationed at RAF Mildenhall from 97-00. I enjoy visiting your sight, because it reminds me of the great times while living in England. England is a beautiful and wonderful place. Hopefully, we will be able to go back someday. Take care.

MessageHi Ruby, found your site this week while researching for Bury festival-didn't know there was a fringe. Moved here from Scotland 25 years ago and just about feel the locals have accepted me , despite having married one. I love this town, being able to walk anywhere, except on the grass in the Abbey Gardens, unless you want that park keeper on your back. It wasn't me, it was my westie, but she still got told off.Your blog made me laugh so much I cried-off to tickety-boo tomorrow for the first time, now I know its bigger than it looks. Its always looked full from the street
