MessageI'm temporarily stationed in Iraq. I used to live in West Row and and another in my office is from near Bury now.
We were looking up the Rushbrooke ARms Pub and the Leisure Centre. My colleague hasn't been to either.
Great site!

MessageHi Ruby, I ended up in Bury one afternoon during a motorbike tour of East Anglia this summer. Only had an hour or two to spend, but I liked it straight away. I will definitely spend more time in Bury as soon as I can - which won't be that long as I'm over in the UK fairly often.
So - see you sometime soon.
Manfred

MessageHey Ruby,

Wow. I've just spent far too much work time perusing your site, having grown up in Bury and left for Oz 10 years ago.

Some things have changed, but most appear to have stayed the same.

I especially enjoyed looking at the pictures of the Abbey gardens, and reminiscing about a youth (mis)spent getting drunk on cheap cider in pretty much all of the locations depicted!

Thanks for maintaining this site and allowing my nostalgia.

My soul will always remain in Bury.

MessageHi Ruby
Your blog is hilarious. Quite addictive. I read it because I have a wee unrequited crush on a posh Bury man who lived in Melbourne for a while. He halfheartedly (out of politeness only) invited me to visit if i'm in England so it's very entertaining for me to read about his town and imagine what his life is like. I'll probably never get a proper invite but it sounds like an endearing place. I loved the poster that was too posh to go on the wall with the riff raff posters.
Hope East Anlia continues to avoid the monsoons. Heart breaks for all those counties that are suffering.
Lily

MessageJust stumbled across your blog and love it. I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall from 2003-2004 and fell in love with England and Bury St. Edmunds in particular. Your site brings back a lot of memories and will keep me up to date on the town. Someday I will be back! smilie smilie

MessageWell, happy memories of Bury. Have lived in Kusadasi on the Aegean coast of Turkey for over 2 years now and I must say the weather is a tad nicer here. But I was born and bred in Bury and it is nice of you to revive my memories. Been away from the town since around 1970 so it has changed an awful lot over the years. Am looklin forward to catching up with things.
smilie
