I just finished reading most of your pages, it sure made me homesick although so much has changed since I lived there as a young girl. I guess I would not recognize a lot about the town now, it has been about 10 yrs. since I visited my family. I moved away as a GI Bride in 1946. I also read Bury In Bloom that I love, and I keep in touch with Brian Cash who runs the web site. Now I hope to get All About Bury downloaded so I can know more about the changes. Thanks for the web site.
Buon Girono, Sono Nata In Stowmarlet 1953....I was born and bred in Stowmarket, in Church Walk, in 1953 and for the main part witnessed the destruction of the old main street in the 60's and 70's.
I went to Kingsmead Primary, Chilton Primary and Stowmarket Secondary Modern Schools and worked with a couple of the then prominent firms in Stowmarket during the 70's.
I sometimes get "home" to " Stow" but alas have no family there now at all. I remember Stowmarket with great affection it was always a small bustling innocent kind of place used to be able to walk along the street in Stowmarket and meet and greet most of those I saw and passed and look at me now!!
If anyone in those distant days past had told me Id be living in Ancona , on the Adriatic coast of Italy I would have seriously doubted their sanity. Well it just goes to show "you really never know whats around the corner". I have in recent times done the odd interview with Radio Suffolk mostly connected with an exhile from Suffolk living abroad.
I still consider my self a "Son of Stowmarket" and on the odd occasion find that my thoughs are of Stowmarket. It was and still is a wonderful place I envy people in a small way who still live there, sooo those of you still lucky enough to live there, be happy and thankful and celebrate the fact!!
Best regard s to all

Your blog is one of the best adverts I've ever seen for Bury st Edmunds! It's a great job and I check up on you more or less every day. Thanks to you I've also got hooked on 21st century mum rubbish. It's a really hard job here in Italy (but not as bad as Naples) but I am giving it a go!

I am well informed whots happening in the u.k. I like to look at brit tv whenever I get the chance, and read the BFP weekly on line. Stocked up on sweets and magazines before we left, the weather was good sunshine every day no rain ! take care look forward to reading your next blog cheers...
