MessageHi Ruby!

I hope all is going well in your new surroundings, so sorry we could not link up at the same time to have a look around Bury as planned. Actually we went over there last week with my inlaws, we took some footage and will I will post it to YouTube over the next month or so!

Have a lovely weekend! Best wishes, Anthony and Dominika.

MessageLived in Bury until I was 31. Angel Lane is where I used to see Dr. Lister. She delivered my oldest daughter. I often strolled down there to get to Bury's Bakery, still the best bread I ever ate. I lived at the Coach and Horses a Wells and Winch pub down Honey Hill. When I came back to Bury five years ago we went to the secret garden at the pub which is now a national trust house. I talked to the owner and they were nice enough to show me around the house. I was able to tell them where the bar was and how the living area was set up. It was a real treat for me and my husband. I still miss the market and the way of life there. The friendly people and the pubs. I have really enjoyed this page and it is a shame to see you leave. Thankyou

MessageBury will be sorry to see you go. Who will give such a balanced, unrosy, no-everything-everyone wants to hear view of Bury now? You will be missed. Good luck in York, it's a great place. You know what they say "There's no place like home, there's no place like home...." I'll lend you my slippers, Ruby. x smilie

MessageYou do make me smile here in Thomasville Georgia. Our friend, Paul, whom has a cook shop on St John's St is coming for a visit in two weeks. Our future holds a relocation package somewhere in BSE. Keep up the good insight on making it thru life with a giggle & a grin.

MessageWas delighted last year, in the course of researching my family history, that my third great grandfather, a humble upholsterer, and his wife, were born in BSE in 1825. They lived on Guildhall Street. His mother was born in Bildeston. It has been a while since the family has been there - they moved to London and sent a son on to Canada in 1871, but the family seems to have flourished here, with hundreds of descendants. We are now planning a visit to "the old country", and are enjoying Ruby's musings.. (By sheer coincidence I live in a town called Newmarket).

Messagesmilie Thanks to your wonderful window on Bury life I am getting really excited about our move there in three weeks time.
Ironically, Troon has had weeks of sunshine, so can you please sort out the Bury weather so that our new house will be finished on time!

MessageI love this site. My husband and I are relocating from the states to England and we are looking for places to live near Mildenhall. This is the first site I have come across that gives me a true sense for what the town is like. Will be keeping an eye out for houses when we cross the pond!

MessageHad a distant relative that lived there for a few years in the mid 1800's. It's possible that she painted the abbey and churchyard there.
