| Melding | The Sermon of the Mount. The Master Jesus is talking of the Law. We take the Law to be do this, do not do that stuff. But is it? How can it be a set of rules of behaviour, offerings, sacrifice ... what ever, if Jesus comments, "Long after stars burn out and the Earth wears out, God's law will be alive and working"? Then Jesus adds, "trivialize even the smallest item in God's Law and you will only have trivialized yourself." I suspect you here is yous, you-all. What if Law here, which in the minds of the people listening, was imposed on them as a code of conduct, and not relationship so deeply sought by the Father, and by many of them to the Father? "But take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the Kingdom." |
