Message | I read your Jesus People page with interest. Washington Hall is right. I was personally thrown out by David Hoyt and another guy. I knew Nick Barta. I told him once he was too pushy and inconsiderate, which earned me a good rebuking. I might have come into possession of that van. It was a 1954 Chevy Panel, sort of a metallic dark blue. I was close to the Happy Valley people, as Dave and Esther Pearl and Henry and Melinda Trujillo were with them for a while. I also did some work for their store in Tacoma. They were into that Manifested Sons of God stuff. 20-some years later my two daughters went to the Christian high school at Camp Berachah. That was sort of strange for me, seeing that they were both born in Philadelphia, PA. I got back in touch nearly 40 years later with one of Linda's people who joined the COG. Her daughter is a celebrity of some notoriety (or fame). Another weird thing was seeing the "Seattle Charismatic Presbytery" completely miss the phoniness of the COG, even after careful descriptions from Richard Vicknair and others. One thing the COG experience taught me was that I had to find out what the Bible actually said and how the context fit in, and I had to take Church history seriously. Those were interesting times, and I saw many interesting things and knew many interesting people. I still count them my friends, but for the most part they want nothing to do with me. |
