MessageA piece of theatre history takes place at the St Thomas Church Centre, Langley Road, Watford on Friday March 14th. On that night Theatre Roundabout, once described by The Times as ‘pre-eminent among small scale touring companies’ will present the final performance of their production of Shadowlands.

For 35 years Theatre Roundabout, in the persons of husband and wife actors Bill Fry and Sylvia Read, have appeared on a bewildering variety of stages, from theatres to cathedrals, arts centres to colleges - from coast to coast in the US, across the whole of Britain and in East Africa. This year all that comes to an end with their retirement.

Theatre Roundabout’s patron, Dame Judi Dench has sent a personal message of support for this last performance:

"Many congratulations on the wonderful work that you have done over so many years. I am proud to have been your Patron and I am sorry that my commitments mean that I cannot be with you for your last ever performance of Shadowlands. I shall be thinking of you and I send you great luck and love for a superb evening."

The very special chemistry between Bill Fry and Sylvia Read is one of the factors which has made this specially adapted version of Shadowlands so successful for them. The fact that this is their last performance of the play only adds to its poignancy.

The performance is at 7.30 pm and the subsidized price on the door is £2. An occasion not to be missed by anyone who cherishes the craft of acting.
