MessageHi, enjoyed reading your blog. I spent a period of 15 years in Niger around the Maradi area with SIM (Sudan Interior Mission when I left the states, now Serving In Mission), my heart is still there!! Much of the time I was at the Danja Leprosarium and taught some of the local Fulani kids to read in Hausa while in charge of maintenance and grounds.

Once in Africa you never get it out of your blood.

MessageAs I read your recent words I wondered: counting from when you first arrived in Niger, how many gallons of water have flowed past that beautiful, tranquil spot where you sat on the Niger River on 7 February? And where are all those gallons and gallons of water now? Whose garden are they watering, and whose cattle drink them? How many times, in that blink of an eye since you arrived, has that same gallon of water served to benefit someone?

And how about all the many people (Nigerians (sp?), and fellow PCV’s, and other expatriates, and…) whose lives you have touched and enriched, since you first arrived in Niger? Where are they now? And what are they doing? Who are they with? How many other lives have they in turn enriched? How many times has your energy and warmth been multiplied? How much good you have done, and you are just getting started.

We look forward to seeing you and hope you have a safe journey. There is much to be done back here also. Your Pacers need help and then there's the Colts. Stroh

MessageHey sweet cheeks! Ina aiki? Ina mutanen Peace Corps? Just wanted to let you know that I took the time to read Take your shoes Off and I enjoyed it. Sorry that the Colts lost, tough lost cause God was on their side after all on that last play for the Steelers when the bus fumbled. Don't be too sad, there is always next year. As for me I go back to the motherland in a week, I am going to Togo to work for the Carter Center as a consultant on the guinea worm campaing. OK kid I hope to hear from you soon. Take care and enjoy your last days in Niger. If you want to come to Niger to say hi and for a sweet love making session you are always welcomed.

Wilbert

Messagejust wanted to thank you for sharing your blog, and a mention in your 100th entry -- what a treat.

as i mentioned elsewhere, you're always welcome to hangout in morocco once i'm out of training and the homestay (love the homestay family, but i gotta have my own place).

looking forward to hearing about your adventure once back states-side, so i'll definately be lurking on your blog often for updates. smilie
