| Message | Hi Karen and any Schiffels who thought you were the only one in the US!!! Does anyone have a family thread or info about Schiffels in New York. My grandfather Henry John born in NYC abt.1891...his father may have departed from a port in northern Germany, also Henry ?John?...His mother also probably born in Germany was Elizabeth Schultz Schiffel the last two died in New York in the 1900's. They were Methodists, may have been involved in a "bar" hence the mystery of my lineage. There were about 11 sibs of my grandfather (Henry John "Jr." .Only 2 other males and they were childless. Henry and Edna Hausrath Schiffel lived in the Bronx and had 2 sons...Henry Arthur 1921 and Kenneth John 1923. Only "Artie" had children,with wife, Jeanette Ruth Genelay Schiffel ...Lynda Jeanne Schiffel 1947 and Sandra Anne Schiffel 1952. that is the end of our name as we both married . Never met another Schiffel and check out phone books whenever I travel. Couldn't believe finding a site of Schiffels....I know how Karen felt (see 9/08 entry).
