MessageInteresting debate over the future of New Orleans.
Having listened to much of the media handwringing over the poverty and neglect of and lack of jobs for African-Americans in New Orleans, it seems to me that many will have better opportunities elsewhere. Let's see what they want to do and support their choices rather than forcing them to move back into the Ninth Ward (or worse, onto an abandoned air force base as the Rev. Jackson and Rep. Waters advocate) solely, it would appear, for the benefit of the Democratic party.

MessageThe war in Iraq is not going well. My heart goes out to the soldiers. Those guys are out there fighting for democracy in a country thats not their own, and hardly grateful for their presence. The administration had plans to get Saddam even before 911. They went to war based on weak intelligence and bad planning, for selfish reasons. Now, more than ever before, the US has provoked the ire of Islamic fundamentalists, and it is more than reasonable to assume that somewhere, someone is plotting a massive attack against the US. But the fact remains- Iraq is a quagmire and it will be difficult for us to extricate ourselves from it in the near future. Bush will be leaving behind an international disaster for the next administration to fix. The only hope is that one day united Iraqis with establish a strong, democratic government and be able to take over the reigns of the country.

MessageIt's nice to finally have a chance to have someone respond to this issue that isn't a socialist/ fascist/ communist/ nazi on the issue of smoking. I get really tired of these government nanny types that ramrod through this issue thinking they can insult every smoker and everyone who's a friend of smoker and not have to take a whipping for their pathetic behavior.

All my good and decent friends are smokers, and I'm constantly having to defend myself for being a friend of smokers. Instead of talking about the issue, I always end up defending myself, and I shouldn't even HAVE to defend myself--NOR SHOULD SMOKERS have to take this third class citizen treatment. If we were in Nazi Germany during WWII, I'd be burning in the crematoriums with the rest of the smokers. alex deserved EVERY bit a tongue lashing from me and I'm not sorry in the least.

Anyway...have a nice day; And you're right, smokers have never been the cause of smog; and never will be the cause of smog. They'd blame smokers for WWIII if they had a chance. They're stupid imbeciles who can't think for themselves and simply go around parroting anything and everything the fascist anti-smoking nico-phobes belch out there.

Smokers are WELCOME in my house anytime; WELCOME in my car anytime; WELCOME to sit with me anytime; WELCOME in my parks, and lovely places always.

Take care,

Rebecca Sather
