| Message | “La vita è una gran presa per il culo” as I interpret it translates roughly as “Life is one big kick in the ass”. This seems to imply that life is a kind of game, always with a disappointing ending. Surely, I will be the first person to admit that my life has been no stranger to disenchantment. If I am completely honest with myself, I must admit that I have often performed abysmally in playing out my “personal life game plan”. This has given me at least as much, if not more, cause for disillusionment as the ill-fated cards that have sometimes been dealt to me by others. But for all the kicks in the ass that I have taken in life, I can easily count exponentially more kisses from the gods who look down agreeably from on high. Since I granted myself the liberty to freely translate from Italian to English in the beginning of my note, I will go just one step further with my translations. “Angelo” in English is “Angel”. You may or may not believe in angels. This could even be the topic of further discussions. I think that we can all agree on the goodness and graciousness incorporated in the generic concept of angels. Angelo, you have clearly been dealt some bad cards in your life, but you have tossed them to the side and embraced the goodness that life offers. Like an angel, you have graced my life. Another kiss from the gods. |
