Message(Thursday 1340) Done with the lessons for today. The only thing left on the official program is a visit by our team-officer from the RDAF officer academy. Then we have the usual GFU meeting with pizza and ALOT of studying and preparation for tomorrow's flight. Man I cannot wait for tomorrow!
I can't believe that we actually get paid for doing this! I'm so happy to be here smilie
This is life!! These are the days, I'm at home smilie
That's it for now.

Message(Thursday 1220). The test went well. On the 13 scale I got a 10, which is ok with me. I think I got a shared second place in class.
Just had a look at the flying schedule for tomorrow and I'm on! Only 14 of us will be flying and some of us haven't even had their first ride yet! We ran out of time when NIS was scheduled to go up yesterday, and JAS is temporarily grounded due to a cold.
Let's see if the weather gets any better. Today it's been raining all day, so we need some dramatic changes before they send us up again. Let's wait and see.

Message(Thursday 0745) Lesson is starting soon, so it will be a short message. We have a test in Aerodynamics today, so we're all slightly nervous about that. It shouldn't be too hard, but still, it's our first test in the subject so we don't quite know what to expect. But now we start off with our 'daily' subject: Flight theory, which is also our most important and demanding subject. Catch u later...

Message(2 minutes later...) Change of programme. The weather is so good that an instructor just came in and postponed our Radio test. The ones that haven't been up flying yet are going up now! This is something that we have to get used to. Flying is very dependant on the weather conditions, so we'll be taking advantage of it when it's good and flights will be cancelled when it's bad. So it's good to always be prepared for your next flight. In my case I feel prepared for flight 2 and 3. I am familiar and confident with the manoevers and procedures that I have to perform in these flights. smilie
By the way, a journalist from the defense magazine 'Up Front' was here yesterday and interviewed me and PLA. I hope he writes a good article and that the pictures are good...

Message(Wednesday 0740) I got my dollar ride yesterday, and I was lucky to even get in the air! Weather conditions were far from ideal, however I was one of the first ones on the list, so shortly after I got airborne, the rest of the flights got cancelled.
It was great to fly a military aircraft for the first time, wearing military equipment and doind everything in their way. Next flight is scheduled on Friday where the instructor has some rather higher expectations...
The first flight is the only flight where there are no real expectations from the instructor's side...that's why you have to pay for the flight, because you get service as if you were at a 5-star hotel.
Anyway the lesson is starting in a minute. First thing on the program today is a test in rado telephony.

Message(Still Tuesday 1140) We just had some extra theory lessons and the estimated take off time has been postponed until the clouds lift a bit more. We're all very anxiuos and ready for the ride. It's the only flight where the instructor does everything and doesn't have any expectations from us. Fingers crossed...

Message(Tuesday 0910) The weather forecast doesn't look too good, however there seems to be a 2-hour gap in the bad weather later on.

Message(Monday 0920) We just had a couple of lessons in Aerodynamics, where we finished off with a video about lift, an old RAF video starring the Jet-Provost.
We can start to feel that the pressure is, slowly but surely, building up.
Tomorrow we have the dollar ride, however the weather doesn't look too promising smilie
Anyway, we just have to be prepared and hope for the best regarding the weather. Cross your fingers for me.

Message(Saturday 1325) It's good to be home, but it's not much different from being at school. I have been studying for several hours already today, and I'm far from over.
We have Roskilde airshow going on today and tomorrow (www.airshow.dk)
The weather is beatiful, it's finally summer! The airshow is only about 10km from here, however I'm staying home. It's the first time in my life that I'm missing an airshow I think. But now I have to prioritize studying over airshows, which is ok, because I'm really enjoying digging into the books and learning the check-lists and procedures by heart. I am a few chapters ahead in the books because I simply cannot put them away from me out of pure curiosity smilie
We got the results from the first 2 tests by the way. I scored:
English 99% and
Aircraft- and Emergency-equipment 83%

Message(Friday 1010) Sitting between Psychology lessons. We started off with a physical lesson this morning, where we were out on a run called 'Bingo run' where you run to different posts and see if they have your numbers on the card. We ran a few km's and it feels good.
On Tuesday we have our first flight, weather permitting, so we're all very excited indeed! The first ride is also known as the 'Dollar ride' where the student pays the instructor $1 after the flight. So now it's a question of learning everything before Tuesday so that I'm super prepared for the flight. Lesson starting again.
