Message(Friday 2050) Home again for the weekend. I've just seen an update about the upcoming airshow at Skrydstrup airshow, which will be held by the RDAF on the 11th of june. Included in the confirmed flying displays so far is a Eurofighter Typhoon, which is great news. Apart from that there's an L39, Spanish F18, P51 Mustang and Gripen...and even a Boeing 737-800 from SAS and of course all of the RDAF aircraft among others. It looks promising! That's it for now.

Message(Tuesday 1925) We had a long day at Borris shooting range today, which is about 1 hour drive from here. It was a good day though and we were really lucky with the weather.
The shooting instructor took a 9mm Neuhauser pistol with him and after we were done with the daily programme, we had a go at the pistol. I had never tried shooting with a pistol before, so I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have as much recoil as I had expected, but it's hard to hit targets at over 50m.
Tommorrow will be spent teaching Patrolling and it seems as if the weather will stay dry and warm for the whole week.
Now it's time to check my mail and then we're considering to go watch a movie at the cinema, us pilot wannabes together.

Message(Sunday 1420) The weekend is almost over and soon it's time to head back to base. The ABC exam went well for the class, however unfortunately one of the students failed. You can't win them all, I guess.
This week we'll start off with an orientation race in the forest. I'll be running with the students myself, in order to give them some extra motivation and at the same time I'll be doing some exercise.
Then on one of the days we'll be teaching them about battles in built-up areas, where we'll spend a whole day in a military village constructed purposely for training soldiers in the field. That's it for now.

Message(Monday 1840) It's been quite a while since last time that I wrote something in here, so I suppose it's about time that I write something. Last week I had the flu, so I wasn't able to work. It was the first time that I was on sick-leave since I've started in the military...apart from that 1 day at flying school where I fell with the bike.
Today we took the recruits out for a day where they had to work in groups in searching a piece of forest. I was group leader/ instructor for a group of 10 and it was great to teach them all the stuff. The weather was fantastic (for a change!). We had 15-20 degrees and almost cloud-free, so we really enjoyed the weather.
Tomorrow we have a whole day at the shooting range (one of the last actually), where they'll be having their shooting awards. Back in my time I got the bronze award. Hopefully they'll do better than me and get silver or gold. Let's just wait and see.
Now it's time to check my mail and then head off to prepare for Wednesday, as I have the last lesson in ABC (Atomic, Biological, Chemical wepaons) before the recruits go to their exam in the subject.
Take care.

Message(Sunday 1025) It feels great that I don't have to think about going back to base tonight. Sunday is always a bit of a drag, knowing that you have to leave and sit in a car for 3½ hours, and then knowing that I won't see Sara for a whole week.
Yesterday I remembered the time when PLA and myself bought a couple of cigars just before starting flying school and agreed to smoke them 'when the fat lady sings.' We sure smoked them during the final party and it was a great feeling that we had made it through the needle's eye. Perhaps it's time to buy a couple of new cigars for when we solo on the Hawk in Canada. It's a long time away, but I suppose it's ok to be prepared. Or perhaps we could smoke them when we've made it through the Officer's academy, which is just over 2 years away.
Anyway, I've started uploading some pictures which I took last week. There's wuite a few, so I'll upload about 30 every day during the course of this week. If you like fast jets, you'll probably like the pictures...

Message(Thursday 1800) Just got back from the first 2-day exercise, including 1 'night-out' of course. All went well and it seems as if the recruits got an experience out of it while having learned alot of important stuff. Tomorrow is the last day before Easter holidays, so we all look forward to head home and recharge.
Last Monday and Tuesday I took a few pictures of the aircraft at TLP and Brilliant Arrow exercises. I will upload them to the picture gallery during the weekend. Now it's time to get some food and then head off to bed, as we only got about 2 hours of sleep in all during the last 2 days, so we can feel that the batteries are low...

Message(Wednesday 0700) Yesterday after work I was lucky enough to get a flight in the E3 AWACS during a night mission in the TLP exercise. It was a great experience to try and see the 'battle' evolving from the eyes of the AWACS. We flew just over 4½ hours, so I was quite tired after we landed (at about 2315).
I took some pictures from the cockpit which I'll upload later on, and I'll also write a short account about my experience. That's it for now.

Message(Saturday 1420) Thursday prooved to be a long day indeed. We gave the recruits a night demo. So at 2000 we drove them out to a location in four groups of 6-8 recruits with a group-leader/instructor and we had a little march at night. The weather was cold but good. Every 15 minutes, a couple of flares were shot up in the air from the place where we had to reach, so we had to home on the flares as our only navigation. The recruits got a good experience out of it, and so did I. It was good fun to teach them all the night-tactics and tell them what to do and what not to. We had a couple of hours for the march, which was about 2km in rugged terrain.
That's it for now. Have a nice weekend.

Message(Thursday 1830) What a day today! I spent most of the day with an LMG, as I wrote yesterday, shooting at the recruits during an exercise that they had to go through. It was actually quite fun. The best of it was that ther was quite alot of flying activities going around. At abouut 0915 a couple of F16's took off and started doing CAP (Combat Air Patrol) over the base. Then after about half an hour, they dived and simulated an attack on the base. I happened to be at the right place at the right time. One of the jets flew over my head at not more than 20m altitude. What a rush! Then he just pulled up and lit the burner....you can imagine the noise!

Message(Wednesday 1550) The day is almost over, but not quite. I agreed with the recruits that we'll run a few km together. Sometimes it's a good way to get yourself to physically exercise.
Tomorrow we have a long day out in the freash air. I'll be spending 6 hours with an LMG (Light Machine Gun) while the recruits practise their moving and attacking tactics on me as an enemy. Then afterwards we'll be regrouping and I will lead a group on a night tactical march (only about 2km) in enemy territory, where we have to meet up with our secret contact. It's going to be fun, so I look forward to it.
We'll be having Easter holidays soon and it's going to be great to relax for over a week. We all look forward!
That's it for now. It's time to run. By the way, the weather is strange at the moment. Today we had periods of shining sunny weather and periods of snow storms. It's amazing that a few days before changing to summer time, we still have snow fall. Tomorrow we expect more snow...
