MessageI lived in Mafikeng for a year in 1986 and hated every minute of the place. I was at school then and was a huge culture shock having moved there from Pretoria ! Even seeing these few photos of it after 23 years made my skin crawl about the place. I suspect it is still a dump !
regards
Mick

MessageHello, I was "googling" Derek Abson and found your photos and visit to Jane and Derek. I knew them at St. Andrews, and Jane and I traveled across the U.S. in a bus. Unfortunately, we lost touch. I would love to hear from them. Please forward this message to them, and let them know I'd like to reconnect. Thanks. Jean

MessageThank you, very interesting site. Well presented and written.

Should anyone be planning to do Serendipity/Sable Valley. Now is the time. I have never, in 45 years of visiting the Waterberg, seen it so lush and beautifull.

Hiking regards

MessageWe moved here due to bad hiking company. Here we do not need to braai our chicken on sticks. The weather forecasts is absolute reliable in our new country. For instance, 30% rain and morning fog does not mean hiking in the rain all day. As soon as we found a good winery we'll send you two ship tickets to come and join us. Just bring your pencil to draw the chairman and his bride as superbly as in your cartoon section...

Artna Chartna (in our new language it means seasons greetings) and thank you for a great website smilie

MessageHi Sylvia, I notice that you have been camping at Merry Pebbles at Sabie. We are planning to do the same this year, but I am concerned about the safety aspects as I understand that there is a squatter camp not far away. Please give me your honest view if it is safe and enjoyable.

Many thanks

Marisa

MessageHi you 2!!
I have just been reading your news and sorry to hear you have both left Siemens. Sorry also about your dad, R. Markus and I are still together although we still live apart. Nothing has really changed, he is based at Power Gen in Wadeville (long shlep to work) and I am still here in Linbro Park. Still hike sometimes but now do a lot of cycling/MTB riding. I love your site, keep it up. Lot of work gone into that I bet. Please stay in touch. Regards, Janet.
PS Jenna (my eldest) just wrote matric and is 18 and Charlotte is 16 now and much taller than me!!
