| Message | The construction of a building's foundation places very definite limits on the building. Once the foundation is in place, the location and size of the building cannot be significantly changed. Once the foundation is created, design flexibility is greatly reduced. Yet without a strong, solid foundation, the building could not be constructed. It is important to be flexible, and yet at some point in the process of achievement, flexibility must give way to steadfastness. In order for our choices to have value, we must select and commit to only certain ones of them. Choices are difficult. Saying yes to one means saying no to the rest. Though you can have anything, you cannot have everything. Because to have everything, would be to have nothing. You must make a choice, or else your vast, wonderful possibilities will be of no use. You must lay a solid foundation on which to build accomplishment. Though your possibilities are infinite, to achieve anything requires that you be definite. From all that is possible, make a choice. And then honor that choice with your effort and commitment. |

| Message | Meaningful accomplishment requires sacrifice and constant discipline, qualities which are often sabotaged by the urges and desires of the moment. That's why it is so important to keep reminding yourself of the long-term goals you seek. There was once a woman who went to work in a home-based direct selling business. Her husband told her she was crazy, and that she was wasting her time, but she didn't let his opinion dampen her enthusiasm. She taped a photograph of an expensive luxury car on her bathroom mirror, where she would see it every day and be motivated to succeed in her business. Her husband just laughed. Then one day she drove home in a brand new car, purchased with the income from her business. It was the same model and color as in the picture. The next morning, her husband had removed the picture from the bathroom mirror and taped up another one -- of a brand new ski boat. Though he had ridiculed the method, he could not deny the result. When you're working to achieve something, it is vital to have a clear idea of what it is, and to keep that idea at the forefront of your attention. Otherwise, too many influences are ready and waiting to knock you off track. What reminders do you have to keep you focused on your success? Keep remembering where you're headed, and you'll have the strength to get there. |

| Message | Is there anything you know you must do, which you're reluctant to undertake? Or is there something which you're positively dreading? Perhaps it is a project you've been putting off, or a phone call you must make, or a meeting you need to attend. Think of what you need to do and tell yourself, "this will be fun!" It sounds crazy, but it can really make a difference. As soon as you say "this will be fun" your mind starts looking for ways to justify that statement. Actually, you simply don't know in advance how it will be, because you cannot experience the future. So your impressions of the dreaded action, whatever it is, are formed mainly by the way you talk to yourself about it. If you tell yourself "this will be horrible" it probably will be horrible, simply because you've convinced yourself beforehand. Do you really want to have a horrible experience? Of course not. So tell yourself that "this will be fun" and it just might be. It won't hurt. It could help. It will get you up and moving in the right direction. "This will be fun!" |

| Message | How many times have you set out to change the world, and then grown discouraged at the first stumble? How many goals have you set and just plain forgotten? How many times have you been stopped in your tracks by the opinions of others? How many times have you produced excuses instead of results? How many more times will you settle for less that you're capable of becoming? Aren't you ready to really live your life for everything it's worth? This moment, right now, is connected directly to your future. You only need to live with passion, purpose and commitment for a single moment, and then for the next moment, and the next, one after another. Soon you will be well on your way to true achievement of anything you desire. You can completely control what you're doing right now. Try it and see how powerful it feels. You are not at the mercy of excuses or circumstances. The challenges are real, to be sure, but are no match for the power of your continued focused effort. One moment at a time, one moment after another, will take you all the way to your brilliant, joyful future. Any moment will do for a start. Make it this one. |
