I would just like to say that I think it takes someone special to sail across the atlantic ocean. I am very proud to be your niece. I think I might try sailing someday but maybe not across the atlantic ocean. Also when can you take me out on your boat.

37 years ago, this date, our son, Richard Kent Smurthwaite, was born in Elizabeth, NJ. He would have loved to sail with you, but unfortunately he passed on April 1, 1985.

We have followed your progress every day. You are truly an inspiration. Well Done to you and not forgetting the magnificent Helen. This is the stuff of history (family wise) you will know what I mean. Can't wait to see you when you are back. It's been emotional.
