MessageWhen I go to a grocery story with coupons I redeem them for the value they offer. When I go to church I offer my self for redemption; much like a coupon. I may view my value as small; my God views my value as invaluable, large.

Sinners-anonymous offers the church a few things. 1. inclusion - accepting each other along with differences; after all we are all sinners
2. Realism - recognizing and valuing the differences valuing them as necessary components for community. My sin may look different than yours, individuation. Through the support of various individuals we make community.
3. Contemplation - sinners are contemplative in that we make effort to understand ourselves and find ways to not sin. In other words sinners are self aware.
4. Safey - by accepting each other we offer the kind of safety that allow us to be ourselves, without pretence. That safety is very necessary for community.

Church is to be a safe, contemplative, realistic, and inclusive group offering and receiving support for who we really are and find redemption and a new sense of value.

I still have four hundred and sixty one characters left

MessageI appreciate the heart behind this effort. I understand the concept of encouraging people to realize there is a sin problem, much like AA helps them realize they have a problem with alcoholism.

I would clear up some of the language. I don't believe I find redemption by going to church. I believe I find redemption in accepting by faith the payment for my sin offered in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. I'm afraid that as this is worded, people might believe they can go to heaven to going to church.

MessageOh by the way, yesterday Rick told a story about a log on the fire that was removed from the rest.
Just like the single log, we will not be fueled unless we surround ourselves with other flaming logs. So jump into love of God and see just how your flame will glow. smilie

MessageQuote of the day:

Here is the mystery of the Church of Christ, a true, impenetrable mystery.

She has the power to give me holiness, yet she is made up, all the way through, of sinners -- and what sinners!

MessageHi, my name is Denise and I'm a sinner! Just thought I'd say hello to all my friends in sinners anonymous. Yes, Craig, we have sponsors for new members. I, in fact, being a sinner have two sponsors. We're thinking nationally - Carl and Jim have already approached a certain soldier about starting a chapter at Fort Benning, Ga. Seriously, I love this whole sinners anonymous thing. I think it's so important to realize our human frailities so we can appreciate GRACE. smilie

MessageSo, I've been uncloaked. The truth is that I do think this is a great idea, and has the potential to spread like wildfire. But, until all of those people who don't live in the K.C., KS/ Shawnee area have a chapter of their own, it's fairly futile to promote an individual chapter. You've got to think NATIONAL. If AA, PTA, BSA, and the Campfire Girls can go national, so can a religous group. There are a lot of people out there who fear the fate of sitting next to the proverbial furnace, in gasoline underpants, but don't know where to go, or fear that it's too late. AT&T said it best, reach out and touch someone! Smokey the bear says that only you can prevent forest fires, therefore you alone can spread something just as large! Good LUCK! smilie
