MessageI was 15 years old in 1970 and the only thing a 15 year old did was listen to the radio and study to get a driver's license. In the next 3 years, KROY got me through a lot of chapters of my life. Things like drinking and throwing up, backseat encounters at the Sunrise Drive-in, and cruising K street until it was closed. My fondest memory is Chuck Roy signing off with "Treat" and adding the tag line "There wasn't a dry eye in the house". Thanks for the Web Site, it brings back lots of fond memories.

MessageLa The Memories.
I grew up with K-R-O-Y,since I was a baby.
I was born in July of 1963.
I still hear the K-R-O-Y jingle in my ear.
Listening to this station brought out the GROOVEY
in GROOVEY 60's
The other night, I woke up with a song in my head-which I FIRST heard on this station.
The Left Banke's PRETTY BALLERINA.
Sure we have good oldie station here in Tucson-but nothing compares to KROY in the 1960's/1970'S.
KROY KARES ABOUT U!

MessageGreat web site. Though I never worked for KROY I did work in the Arden Way studio's, anybody remember AM 14? KXOA AM as an oldies station with Terry Nelson as P.D. I also did time as program director for 93 Rock and was the first host of Light's out Sacramento on the "Point".

Amazing what a great radio market Sacramento is and was...

All the best!

MessageI can still remember coming home from an elementary school almost everyday tuning in to "the station" starting somewhere in 1980; there was a female DJ with a sexy voice that I never know her name.

MessageWhat a gem to stumble upon this site! I worked as the assistant engineer under Bill McCray and Kent Randals from about 1977 'til about 1980 and what a time I had! I grew up (so to speak) listening to KROY and Casy Kasems AT40 countdown then on KCRA and then K-108. As a kid I dreamed of working for KROY and one day work with Casey. I was fortunate to be able to do both along with many other great radio entertainers, engineers, sales folks and managers. I never thought that I would still be working in the business some 30 years later. Now life is bringing me back to Sacramento and I hope to be able to be able to catch up with some of my old KROY friends.
