MessageFirst, a couple of additions to Martin's comments:

Cleveland, shoot me an email address and we'll get you on the site: [email protected]. Sorry we somehow overlooked you. I thought sure we dug into Johnny Williams web site for KROY alums and I know you're in there.

By the way, that's a great site for radiophiles that may not be aware of it. The whole world of ex-jocks and what they're doing now is there: http://440.com/

Bill Gwartney: thanks for the thanks! It's very gratifying to know good things come from very little effort when the effort is well-intended.

And to all visitors and former KROY listeners: You have no idea how much your kind comments mean to a bunch of old deejays whose love of radio and life itself was nurtured at KROY. It was a wonderful experience.

MessageHello everyone. I thought I'd answer some of the wonderful notes left by our friends and colleagues. To Ben E. McCoy: Thanks "Music Power" to ya! Cleveland W.: Sorry we missed you. Dennis Latona: We'd all love to be back, but you can hear for yourself what the state of radio is nowadays. Bill Gwartney: Wow! That's all I can say. I, too, became a recording engineer. Small world. John Hart: You can thank our friend and colleague Gene Lane for that little musical ditty that helped "brand" the station. Mark: I'm sorry, I seem to have missed your point. To Jessica, Jennifer, and Mariah: My house. Tonight. 8:00 PM Steve & Linda: Ditto on the "sorry." Robert L. Brown: I'm sorry to report that all things KROY are gone, except for some special memorabilia on display at Nakamoto Productions here is Sacramento. Darren: Believe me, all of the KROY folks are still in contact, and have a collective saddness. We, too, would love to be back on 1240 KROY!

Warm regards,

Martin Ashley/Wonder Rabbit

MessageWHEN I WAS SIXTEEN I GOT THE RADIO BUG. I RODE A STINGRAY BIKE WITH A BANNA SEAT AND SISSY BAR, EXTENDED FORKS AND HIGH RISE HANDLE BARS TWENTY MILES FROM CITRUS HEIGHTS CA. TO 977 ARDEN WAY IN SACREMENTO. I MET MARTIN ASHLEY AND HE HAD THE MAIN STUDIO OF THE AIR FOR MAINTAINANCE. MARTY TOLD ME TO
GO AHEAD AND LERN THE BOARD AND SHOWED ME A COUPLE OF FUN THINGS ABOUT MIXING SOUND. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS STARTED A FIRE IN MY SOUL FOR THE RADIO BIZ. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I WENT ON TO ENJOY AND 30 YEAR RUN WITH RADIO. I AM A RECORDING ENGINEER AND CAN DO RADIO PRODUCTION WITH THE BEST OF THEM. THANKS MARTIN, DAVE WILLIAMS AND CHUCK ROY. I WANT TO THANK DAVE WILLIAMS ONE MORE TIME FOR COMMING OUT TO CASA ROBLE HIGH SCHOOL AND PAYING MY DRAMA CLASS A VISIT. DAVE, ALL THINGS POSITIVE CAME OUT OF THAT MEETING. GOD SPEED TO ALL AT KROY THE 1240 ROCK.

MessageNow I know how much KROY influenced my life. I was correcting papers and suddenly found myself singing the Wonder Rabbit theme song. Is this stress relief or what? Today's kids just don't know what they missed.

MessageLoved the audio tracks smilie I too grew up w/KROY, where I met the Beatles and learned the words to all the songs played (or so thought my friends)! Fun reading & seeing pictures. I still have the KROY school folder you show! Hank Schwartz (engineer & Dr. extrodinaire) forwarded this site. Pass it on too.
I appreciate what radio brought into my life (besides my husband). Passion for music and information smilie

MessageNot only were we fans of KROY but we love to come in here to see that very young, good-looking, sexy Wonder Rabbit. He is our favorite DJ, always was and still is. Even if he ignores us, his adoring fans. He never comes over for dinner anymore, or even drops by for a short visit on Sundays after church. But that's okay Wonder, we love you anyway.
