| Message | I won my first concert tickets ever on KROY FM when I was 13 (The Spinners). When I went to pick them up in Old Sac something about the air felt magical and within the year I was a Switchboarder answering the Request Lines. I worked weekends with Danny Wright, had a huge crush on Jim David, adored Terry Nelson (and his roommate Jim who taught me about The Moody Blues)and used to evade Tom Chase's racy suggestions. I was known as "The Bounce Girl". I played catcher on our softball team (where ARE the photos of the games??) Got propositioned by Wolfman Jack and helped protect Leif Garrett from his screaming fans at Cal Expo. Volunteering at KROY started my life long love of radio. I still keep in touch with Danny Wright, Jim Davis (now known in LA as Bryan Simmons), Dave Williams, Terry Nelson and especially David G. Hall (who was a fellow switchboarder). The station still exists in Old Sac only now it's a tattoo/piercing parlour. You can still walk down the stairs and feel the old KROY-I energy. And I am still a Switchboarder, now at KABC AM 790 in LA - only now we're called Call Screeners... |
