MessageIn the view of Astor Street, L4, I am the boy on the bike! Actually it was an old tricycle, and I was in the habit of riding it backwards while sat on the handlebars.
I still haven't grown up.
The Bond 3-wheeler car was my dad's. It was powered by a motorbike engine on the front wheel, and in cold weather dad would often put a 'hurricane' lamp under the bonnet to ensure it started in the morning frost.
An interior shot of our house (No 32) appeared in Liverpool Echo when the city council started a scheme of 100% mortgages. Our neighbour Mrs Williams's son and his fiancée were among the first recipients and posed for the photographer in our kitchen. Reply sent

MessageWhat an amazing resource (although it's a two-edged sword finding part of your life in an archive!). Many thanks for organising this.

The photo marked 'Low Wood St near Low Hill on 21.07.55' is also in my 1990 copy of Freddy O'Connor's 'Liverpool: Our City Our Heritage' but labelled there as Holborn Street. Have you any supporting evidence either way? It doesn't help that the area has changed so much even since the 1950s!

MessageIf only! If only I could return to my home town! Family commitments prevent this so it is only nostalgic pictures that I can gaze at. Just maybe one day ......

MessageCongratulations on a brilliant collection of photos. It's just so sad that such a lot of old Liverpool has been lost. I have a postcard of a tram at Penny Lane and a photo of my great grand mother outside the family shop on Crosby Road south which I'm happy to send to you to add to your collections. Thank you very much for all the work you've put into this web site. Best regards Ann Jeffs
