A 2012 autumn greetings from the SS RED OAK VICTORY, the towns own ship since 1944. The ship is still in the restoration process with the goal to make it ready to steam out the Golden Gate. We invite all residences and/or friends of the town of Red Oak to visit the ship at its place of birth-Richmond, Ca. Several town mayors, over the last ten years have visited the ship and been our guests for an overnight stay. During WWII the ship was the USS RED OAK VICTORY (AK235) and manned by a full Navy crew. In 1947 it was decommisioned and turned over to the US Merchant Marine for action in Korea and Viet Nam. It last steamed in 1968 and then was layed up in the Reserve Fleet.

I remember the Depot and I was always trying to get a good photo of the Depot. We had a great time in Red Oak and lived there for 11 great years.
