Was on The Tally while in ship yard at Charleston SC. Was in the group that got the Tally kicked out of golf course. We started out on the 19th hole. I was on the landing party and got to fly as a radioman on the neptunes. Lot of good memories and I loved Italy. Would like to go back, but will never get too. Wife has cancer and I am too old. lol

Lot of hard work getting the ship ready for commission. A long rough ride across the pond to Naples. Had a lot of great times, and a lot of good friends.

Hola Shipmates Great to see so many of you are staying in touch after all these years. I live in Westminster, CO and currently finishing my second career with the VA. Retired as a NCC in July 1991 after serving two tours in recruiting in San Antonio and here in the Denver area. God blessed me with two sons and a marriage that has lasted 41 years. Please call or come see me when you are in the Denver area. Mi Casa es su casa Amigos. My home is a Navy home and will always be. Sorry I haven't made any of the reunions but God willing I will someday before we are all called to be with our Lord. Met up with Gramps Vaughn in Marthas Vinyard a few years ago and had a great time. Maybe we can see each other again Shipmates. I served in the post office with Greg Faiola after a stint on deck force with Boat Tony Demars.

Hello to all.
Had a great time as a "Tourist Mate" in Naples et al. Of course everything is enjoyable to a 21 or 22 year old.
Nobody ever mentions CDR Pickens - he was a riot.
Best wishes to all.

I served with VP-24 when we deployed to Sigonella and subsequently on to Sudha Bay, Crete. First time ever for me to board a Navy ship. I remeber getting a truckload of beer off of AVB-2. Had to climb down a hatch near the front doors into a dark, dank storage area. The beer was stacked from floor to ceiling (whatever the blackshoe terminology is)! I spent my one and only night onboard a Navy ship as a radio man support our squadrons 24x7 flight excercises. Good luck with your reunion!! Andy Massa

Rec'd TALLY-gram from M.A. this week plus an email from Bruce, so being an obedient sailor, I have made my hotel reservation for the Oct 2011 reunion. It's hot and dry here in JAX but not complaining, thankful for being in good health and looking forward to seeing all of you. My adjustment to living alone has been slow but I'm pleased to say, I think I'm nearly normal now. My very best to all of you; have a safe trip to DC. Chuck
