I had a great time while stationed on board. The crew was the best. I spent a lot of time in Soudha Bay as the RM there. Hope to see everyone in D.C. in 2011.

Always enjoy receiving the reunion news. Unfortunately my wife and I don't do much traveling anymore - getting "too long in the tooth" for it now. We have moved back to our home area (Amarillo, TX) and now the grandkids have to come visit us. I enjoyed all my days onboard the TallyHo - even the boring days of transiting from Charleston to Rota riding herd on the Spanish yard oiler and the Iranian minesweeper. Wonder if they are still afloat somewhere. Have fond memories of Naples - which some sailors find strange.

I remember the summer of '66,the last day of our deployment to Soudabay, Crete. Capt. Shute declared "holiday routine'. Steaks & free beer on the beach. Bunch of us yahoos decided to toss the capt. & XO Van Dien in the bay. All of us tossee's wound up in the water also. The Capt. & XO took it in good spirit, but another officer we started after threatened to write up the lot of us. Another officer came to us and said we had to toss in the guest of honor, the mayor of Souda Crete, also. We agreed. The Mayor was a little ol' man, about 100 years old, who was stripping down to his boxers as fast as possible. What a day!

knew most of the RMs, ETs, ICs, and Souda Bay group where I worked for almost 1yr out of a van and there were 17 total on the base (far cry from today.) Live in Va and work for State Dept mostly worked overseas past 40 yrs and close to retirement. Would like to meet up with fnu Rice who worked at the ship's laundry if I remember correctly. We use to listen to record of Johnny Most of Boston Celtics. Pat Moran who I travelled europe with and any of the old gang including Chiefs and Officers. All the Best, Brian

Served on AVB-2 call sign NKIB. Presently live in Falls Church, Va. and work at Dept of State. Will retire in year or two. Remember lots of the Radiomen, ETs, and IC guys, couple of the Chiefs and Officers and lost track of someone from Mass who worked in the ship's laundry last name I believe Rice a good man and we shared memories of the Celtics and Johnny Most. Stayed in Souda Bay for at least 1 year and tour europe with Pat Moran - a great guy who I unfortunately lost touch with after the service but did visit with him and his wife one time. Regards to All. Brian

Missed the first reunion only as I had no knowledge of it. Can't wait for the DC reunion, been there a couple of times on business trips but did not see a thing. Wish the reunions were every year as I am losing my shipmates too often. The recommissioning crew are not getting any younger. These so called golden years are for the birds!!! Judy and I think of this group as our extended family..
