Messagewell all i have to add is i,m just wondering if well any way i,m sorry and god bless miss santigao and lt ray bye artie sanchez carried sgt lupe gonzales on his shoulders and brought him back to ben luc he propped him on the choppers waiting for us three ft from the ground didnt waste any time and we went back to ben luc we were on operation nut cracker i believe that day. i just wanted to let you know that we were pinned downtried to cross the river and use ropes to cross the river but it was flwoingvery fasta nd we had to duble back thats when we were ambushes last words lt ray asked me was waaaaaaht are you shooting at hinojosa welllt dont know but feel something out there there was we burned out our barrles and jammed all our m 16s and got he hell out of there with artillery being dropped right behind us or may be it was mortars i was to sacred toask any way thats it ed

Messagei served with 3rd brigade 9th inf div dec 3 rd to nov 25 1967, went over from ft riley to vungtau and bear cat and benluc to tantru andanut tan transferring to b co s n t 9th inf hq in around july 67 assigned as atruckdriver for delivering supply convoys to mytho and tan an mekong dleta saw some combat in start of dec 66 tomay or june 67 sawmany friends get killed and wounded to see them leave by medevac and never saw them agian well i live still in texas retired disabled veteran ,i was with guadalupe gonzales and lt ray roalnd wooldridge when they were killed feb 27 1967 soory folks specialist gonzales fromsanantonio texas waqs my squad leader and lt ray was my platoon leader i havent been able to come to terms with there death its been 42 hyears yets i have to say to the families god bless and your sons were good guys i had apicture taken of us in2 nd squad but it was taken out of my rucksack or duffle bag while we were out in the rice paddies on searcha nd destroy i feel guilty cause iwas onpointhtta day when they lost there lives it was either i could stay behind bringing up the rear or go on pointso isatyed behind bropught up the rear and low crawled seems for hours while being fired at behind a rice paddie reach the platoonat alott inthe middle of the rice paddie fields with trees and heard gonzales and lt ray was deadkia i/ we rested few minutes tried to unjam my m 16 but it was jammed where it could be broke down and the round pulled out of the chamber
