Message | Cliff....need to correct...Jerry's father's name is Isaiah..not Pisiah, someone misread the census taker's handwriting. Isaiah and Asa are brothers, and their parents are Jacob & Eliza(Guyton)Varner. Jacob was born in Virginia in 1805 but lived in Putnam County by the time he was 55. I believe they are all buried at the Varner - West Cemetery. I was planning on going there tomorrow, to check on another stone to see if it was set upright after falling over. If I make it out there, I will get those pics, and post them to the site. Send me your email, and I will send the photos to you directly. |

Message | Cliff, I also think that Asa Varner was Pisiah's brother, there parents were born in the same places. Mother in Maryland, and Father in Virginia. So maybe if we look in those states's census records, you may be able to find out for sure if they are brothers, then you may find the next generation. |

Message | javascript:SetSmiley(' ' Cliff, On the 1900 Census, there is a Fanny & Pisiah S Varner who lived in Greensburg Township, Putnam County, Ohio. Fanny born, March 1845, and Pisiah born, May 1842 with children at the time: Maggie, Jacob, Jerry M, Martin W,Curtis O, Grace G, Chester B. Fanny's mother was born in Germany, father in Pennsylvania..Pisiah's mother born in Maryland, and father in Virginia. I hope this helps..there were alot of Varners in the area at that time. Email me if you have any more questions. Thanks for visiting my site! |

Message | Cheryl, Hi, and thank you for visiting my site "Ohio Tombstones", and thank you for all the nice comments. As far as "Oberleitners" buried in Putnam County, it is quite possible, Deshler is not too far outside of Putnam County. I have just started visiting the cemeteries in that area, and cannot remember coming across any "Oberleitners", but now that you have drawn attention to that name, I will , and if you use my email address on the site...I can email you back with any info I find. Thanks again javascript:SetSmiley(' ' |
