| Message | I worked as a hostess and graduated to a waitress during the Dicky Burress, social coordinator years of 1972-1975. The crew and the fun we had rarely left me not wanting to come to work. Al, there was no better employer than you & none had a healthier set of lungs! How the wall phone stayed on the wall remains a wonder to me. I still can remember how you cradled the rag to wipe off tables gently under your arm pit and casually stood in front of a (usually a window) table that was taking way too long to exit but made them feel like they just conversed with the president by the time they left. Some memories were the perch quotas that left someone driving to Chicago for fresh perch, building the logged restaurant around the original facility while we were working in it, new carpeting, more bathrooms to clean, don't eat french fries out of the tray, the kitchen floor is VERY slippery in clogs, waitress nightmares, pancakes called in first and than pork chops-13min?s, Dabo would make me crepes with powdered sugar for lunch-I still love 'em that way, roast beef sandwiches, Al's appreciation night(s)n lots of special people, Kirk, Hamster, Johnny O, Dabo, Danny, Evie, etc. Best recollection was Dicky's imitation of Al and family pickling herring late at night. Dicky, I didn't know you knew how to speak Swedish? Thank you Al and Ingert for your vision, work ethic and fortitude to make special summers happen year after year for so many people. Congratulations on 60 years of success! |
